National Dog Day USA Celebration 2019
Man owes much to dogs. For the sake of our good, the quadrupeds perform many different kinds of work – they are watchmen, guides, shepherds, helpers, rescuers, and bloodhounds. And most importantly – they give us their sincere love and friendship, without demanding anything in return. Today there is an excellent reason to remember this and to say thank you to the dogs for their dedication and loyalty.
It is important not to forget about dogs in trouble, who need our help – homeless people suffering from cruel treatment. The founders of the festival, the National Dog Day Foundation, are calling for help to ten thousand dogs every year, their motto: “Help 10,000 dogs – gradually, day by day.”
Colin Page, the founder of the holiday, said: “I founded the National Dog Day in honor of dogs, to give them a” day “when we can express our deep gratitude to dogs for our historically established friendship with them – for their conquering patience, unquestioned dedication, K-9, as military service dogs, guide dogs and helper dogs.
My dog, Sylor, was tortured and starved when I found her 7 month old in a shelter, and she taught me what unconditional love is and what true trust is. I want all over the world to respect dogs for their ability to love and their ability to influence our lives every day in the most wonderful way. I want us to create a world where all dogs (and each animal) can live happy and not abused. ”
We join the calls of the founders of the day of the dog and ask all people to be merciful to our smaller brothers, to help those in need, not to buy and not breed them while the homeless are suffering, but to take them from the street and from shelters.
One of the goals of National Dog Day is to encourage people to take dogs from shelters. If a person already has a dog and does not plan to start a second one, he can celebrate it differently, for example, to offer volunteer services to a local shelter for homeless animals, make donations to organization, spend more time with his dog, buy her a treat or new toy. The essence of the holiday is to surround the dogs with the love and care they deserve.
Every year on the occasion of the National Day of Dogs in the United States organized a mass of enterprises, the holiday is actively promoted in social media.
This holiday has two goals: to express respect and gratitude to the dogs for all that they give to man and help needing help. A man owes much to dogs: they are both guides and rescuers, and the shepherds, and the watchman. But most importantly, dogs give their sincere love to people.
and friendship, without demanding anything in return. Today the Americans have an excellent reason to just remember this and say thank you to all dogs for their loyalty and devotion.
At the end of July this year, residents of the city of Muskegon, in Michigan, conducted the last journey of a sapper dog named Sina. Labrador named Sina thrice went to many months missions to Afghanistan as part of the marine corps infantrymen. In 2009 and 2010, he participated in the fighting with the younger marines corporal Jeff de Young. How many soldiers have this life saved dog-sapper – it’s hard to count. In 2014, Sina, coming out on a well-deserved rest, settled in the house of his comrade. And three years later, Sina was diagnosed bone cancer in an indistinguishable stage. The only way to save Sina from suffering there was euthanasia.
Jeff always considered the dog his friend and decided to organize a solemn the hero-dog farewell ceremony. “I carried him in my arms across mountain rivers, hid from the deadly fire of the Taliban, and Sina warmed me on cold nights in the Afghan desert and comforted when in three weeks I lost seven combat comrades, “said Jeff.
Jeff de Young’s decision was written by local media and announced in a ceremony to accept the participation of hundreds of people: the local branch of the League of Marines, police, firefighters, Sheriff’s office and ordinary citizens. Event that was planned as deep family, turned into a public action of grief.
From the house of Sinu, dressed in a ceremonial jacket of the marine, carried by car with an honorary escort of police and bikers.
Jeff’s family and friends, his colleagues and friends came to say goodbye to Cina. People hugged Sina, said warm words of farewell to him. The last meters of the road Jeff carried the dog in his arms.
Cine’s lethal injection was made aboard a museum ship moored in Muskegon. The guard of honor fired three times in the air, the trumpeter on deck played a mourning melody. When Sina was gone, he was laid in a coffin, covered the national flag. Jeff, barely holding back tears, himself took the body of the dog from the ship.
