Celebrate National Dog Day at the Gardens!
Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens has 47 acres and 4 miles of paths to explore for your pup… We celebrate National Dog Day on Sunday, August 26, with some additional love for our canine tourists. Treat your pup and yourself to a nice long walk amongst the dahlias, roses, and perennials. Here are a few of the events to look forward to:
- Fort Bragg Feed & Pet, Inc. will be giving out free samples of their best dog treats and dog foods on the entry plaza.
- Skelly Dogs Training will be on the Event Lawn giving agility and rally obedience demonstrations with four of her dogs. You and your dog can watch the expert-level pups jump and weave their way around the course.
- Pawpawrazzi Pet Photography will be capturing the true nature of our four-legged friends among the colorful blooms of the Perennial Garden.
- The Mendocino Coast Humane Society Mobile Adoption Van will be at the Gardens with a bunch of adorable adoptable animals. Adopt a pet from the Humane Society at the Gardens on National Dog Day and receive a free Household Membership!

Onleash dogs must be 6 feet or less. Please clean up after your dog is situated throughout the Gardens with baggies and garbage receptacle. Although this year’s National Dog Day landed on a Wednesday, there are still some fun things to celebrate with your pooch.
Willmar selected the best day on Willmar Avenue and 22nd Street Southwest to hold the grand opening of their new dog park. Hosted by KC Dog, the festival will feature several doggy competitions, sketches of prizes, raffles and free bandanas and dog treats. The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. Till 7:30 p.m.
Maple Grove’s 3 Squares Restaurant has a enormous bash patio where dogs can enjoy home-made dog treatments and people can enjoy food and drink specialties. There will also be a background and several props for Twin Fish Photo to assist build some funny photos of you and family members of your tail-waggin. The fun starts at 5 p.m. By 9 p.m.

Paws with Jefferson County’s Humane Society and Fort Atkinson’s Pick ‘ n Save to celebrate this unique day. It is the National Dog Day Foundation’s mission to encourage rescue dog adoption and assist coast-to-coast local pet shelters!
Hot dogs, brats, chips and water will be on sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. outside Fort Atkinson’s Pick’ n Save on Friday, August 26. The shelter will profit from all proceeds and freewill donations received!
